
About The Jasiri Program
The Jasiri Consortium comprising Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW), Grassroots Organizations Operating Together in Sisterhood (GROOTS Kenya), Collaborative Center for Gender and Development (CCGD), Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD) and Advocates for Social Change Kenya (ADSOCK) are jointly implementing the Jasiri Program for a period of 5 years (2023-2028). The program seeks to among other things address market and funding gaps in access to finance experienced by women owned Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in 16 counties in Kenya. i.e., Kiambu, Kakamega, Tana River, Bungoma, Garissa, Kilifi, Mombasa, Nairobi, Meru, Nyeri, Mandera, Kajiado, Busia, Kwale, Samburu, Baringo Counties.
The program provides financial literacy training to young women 18-35 year of age , who are survivors of gender based violence ( GBV )or at risk of GBV. This forms part of the program support to prepare them to access affordable financial services and products aimed at enabling them start up businesses or boost existing enterprises they are running.
- Objective of Consultancy
The objective of the consultancy is to review and improve the Jasiri Program’s Financial Literacy Training Manual and incorporate modules from existing training manuals on life skills and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights.
2. Tasks
The consultant will work closely with a Jasiri consortium designated team in discharging the following tasks:
a) Conduct a technical review of the training manuals developed under the Jasiri program, identify gaps and make recommendations for improvement.
The Review shall among other things cover:
- Relevance of content for the program particpants
- Ability to engage diverse program participants including PWDs and Refugees;
- Simplicity, interactiveness and accessibility of training material
b) Make recommendations on the most effective training strategies, methodologies and tools for delivery of the trainings to the program participants.
c) Highlight any lessons learnt and best practice.
d) Meet with program stakeholders if required and enrich the modules based on feedback.
e) Facilitate a validation meeting to share findings and recommendations with the Jasiri Consortium, key stakeholders including the Mastercard Foundation and program participants.
f) Deliver a training of trainers who will cascade the training.
3. Deliverables
a) Report on the review of the Jasiri training manuals with appropriate recommendations in both soft and hard copy.
b) A comprehensive curriculum incorporating SRHR, Financial Literacy and Life skills modules which can be delivered to program participants within a maximum of four (4) days.
4. Candidate Qualifications
Experience
a) A Degree in Gender Studies and Development, social sciences or related fields
b) A proven track record in development and reviewing of training curricula (and manual) development and/or working on TVET-related programmes;
c) In-depth knowledge and understanding of the following areas:
- Gender equality and women empowerment
- Financial literacy and financial cancelling including Entrepreneurship and Business skills development.
- Life Skills for teenagers and adolescent girls.
- Women’s economic empowerment.
- Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights
- Conducting training for vulnerable women in rural / informal areas.
Competencies
- Proven ability to demonstrate innovative thinking and stimulate an environment that fosters innovation and openness to change;
- Knowledge of one or more international competency systems (e.g., ASEAN system) and innovative ideas for curriculum development and training provision;
- Excellent written and spoken English skills and sound report writing skills, knowledge of local languages will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience of providing technical advice to multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to contribute to and comfortably work in a multidisciplinary setting;
- Able to work independently and to meet strict timelines.

Fees: Provide professional fee/ Financial proposal.
6. Timeline and Supervision
The assignment shall span fourteen (14 days) from the date of execution of the contract which may be extended upon agreement with the contracting party .The consultant will be under the overall supervision of Mr. Jim Ouko, Jasiri Fund Director.
